I've tried to stay out of this discussion and the one on security ...but
just remember, once IPP transactions cross domains it will inevitably look
like a facsimile transmission to end users. If we are ever going extend the
legal protection of fax to IPP and give IPP the "look and feel" of fax, it
will be necessary to require time/date stamping/logging at some point.

You may not be able to achieve rough consensus on this issue in 1.1 but I
can assure you any QUALDOCS transaction will require time/date... and
security and a lot more things that are currently OPTIONAL in IPP 1.1.
