Minutes of Monday’s conference call are posted at ftp://ftp.pwg.org/pub/pwg/cloud/minutes/cloud-concall-minutes-20120827.pdf.
These minutes reflect yet another major course change on the Cloud Requirements and Model document, specifically in the Requirements section, reflecting a combination of differing viewpoints from different contributors, reconsideration of what we have done over the past two months, and a basic desire to get back to the design section without any need for having it follow from what is in the Requirements section.
Some significant decisions were made, including that PWG Cloud Printing, in terms of printing functionality, is not different from what has already been defined for network printing; any Cloud Printing that may be different is not PWG Cloud Printing and is out of scope. Also, non-printing aspects of Cloud Printing, such as User Association and Printer Registration, and the various authentication and authorization aspects should be described in terms of functional requirements although they remain out of scope with respect to design.
With Larry handling agreeing to redo Requirements, and there being consensus that the approach outlined in Pete Zehler’s email sent on Aug 26 (How different is Cloud Print from our currently defined Print Service) is the right way to proceed with the Model, I would hope that there will be more contributors to the model section over the coming three weeks until the next conference call.
Thank you,
Bill Wagner
