All,
As requested, here is a list of the changes for IPP Everywhere v1.1:
- WS-Discovery is now OPTIONAL (no implementations)
- OpenXPS and SSDP are no longer discussed (previously OPTIONAL, no implementations)
- The "printer-device-id" Printer Description attribute and associated DNS-SD TXT record keys (product, usb_MFG, usb_MDL, usb_CMD) are no longer required (only used for printer drivers)
- DNS-SD is now RECOMMENDED for Printers representing Logical Devices/print servers (where DNS-SD might not be used for discovery)
- ICC attributes (print-rendering-intent, printer-icc-profiles) are now CONDITIONALLY REQUIRED for printers that support ICC-based color management (previously implied, this is a clarification of intent)
- JPEG support is now CONDITIONALLY REQUIRED for color printers (common request for B&W laser printers)
- The "compression-supplied", "document-format-supplied", "document-format-version", "document-format-version-supplied", "document-name-supplied" attributes are no longer required (all obsoleted in the Job Extensions errata update)
- IPP Finishings 2.1 and the "finishings-col" Job Template attribute are now RECOMMENDED (previously OPTIONAL, necessary for certain MFP features)
- The "printer-strings-languages-supported" and "printer-strings-uri" Printer Status attributes are now RECOMMENDED to support localization (previously OPTIONAL, widely implemented)
