This is a working group Last Call for the "Internet Printing Protocol/1.1:
Implementer's Guide". The latest version of this document has been
forwarded to the Internet Draft directory as
<draft-ietf-ipp-implementers-guide-v11-01.txt>.
The Last Call notice follows:
This is a formal request for final comments within the IETF IPP
working group for one document. The document is "Internet Printing
Protocol/1.1: Implementer's Guide" which is being proposed for forwarding on
to the IESG for consideration as an Informational RFC to complement the
previous suite of IPP/1.1 documents. This is a working group product, which
has been thoroughly discussed since mid 1999.
The document is an update to the IPP/1.0 Implementer's Guide" and has
undergone
considerable review and revisions during the past year and I believe that
we now have working group consensus on its adequacy. It is recognized that
this document will need to be updated with any additional experience that
we accumulate over time, but we should get the current version out as an
RFC to a wider audience at this stage. It will replace the
<draft-ietf-ipp-implementers-guide-v11-00.txt> version
which is still in queue in the IESG for review and publication.
The purpose of a working group Last Call is in the style of "speak now or
forever hold your peace" in case there are fundamental objections which have
not gotten previous or adequate discussion, or minor errors which need
correction.
Last Calls are for a minimum of 2 weeks. We will start the Last Call period
today Friday 9 June, 2000 and the period for working group comments will
close
on Friday, 23 June (US Pacific time reference), 2000.

This document is one of a set of documents, which together describe all
aspects of a new Internet Printing Protocol (IPP). IPP is an
application level protocol that can be used for distributed printing
using Internet tools and technologies. This document contains
information that supplements the IPP Model and Semantics [IPP-MOD] and
the IPP Transport and Encoding [IPP-PRO] documents. It is intended to
help implementers understand IPP/1.1, as well as IPP/1.0, and some of
the considerations that may assist them in the design of their client
and/or IPP object implementations. For example, a typical order of
processing requests is given, including error checking. Motivation for
some of the specification decisions is also included.

NOTE: The mail server at ietf.org can return the document in
