stewardship of the Web architecture. Per section 1.4 ([201]Technical
Architecture Group) of the [202]W3C Process Document, the TAG should
send a summary of each of its meetings to the Advisory Committee. The
group's [203]home page has information about the TAG. Since the last

As per Section 8 ([209]Acknowledgment of a Submission) of the [210]W3C
Process Document, acknowledgment of a submission request does not
imply that any action will be taken by the Consortium. It does not
imply an endorsement by the W3C, the W3C Team, or any of the Members
of W3C. It merely records that the submission request has been made by
the submitting Member. The specification may not be referred to as
"work in process" of the W3C.

Emmanuel Pietriga Leaves W3C Team at MIT
Emmanuel Pietriga departs the W3C Team at MIT in August. He began his
work at W3C/MIT in September 2001. He was then a visiting scientist
from [227]Xerox Research Centre Europe, where he prepared his PhD
which was awarded to him in November 2002 by the [228]French Institut
National Polytechnique de Grenoble. During his time at W3C, Emmanuel
developed [229]IsaViz, a visual authoring tool for RDF, as well as an
RDF-based stylesheet language called [230]GSS, and also helped
maintain the [231]W3C RDF Validation Service. We thank Emmanuel for
his contributions to W3C and wish him the very best in his future
endeavors.

Accessing Consortium Resources
W3C Member Web Site Access
The Member Site Access System has been created to enable you to access
the [232]Member Site from the office or a remote location. Each
individual from Member organizations will be assigned a unique
username and password after completing the account request form at
[233]http://cgi.w3.org/MemberAcce ss/
[232] http://www.w3.org/Member/
[233] http://cgi.w3.org/MemberAccess/AccessRequest
Each request is reviewed individually by designated W3C Team members
to ensure that the site will only be accessed by authorized users.
Usernames and passwords are issued via email by the following (US)
business day; there is also a new form for changing personal passwords
at [234]http://cgi.w3.org/MemberAcc ess/change_pwd.
[234] http://cgi.w3.org/MemberAccess/ChangePassword
Please take this opportunity to apply for a personal account so that
you are prepared when critical information is posted on the Member
Site.
Access to W3C Member information is a benefit of Membership. Members
lose the benefit of privileged access if they distribute their
passwords to non-Members or make Member information publicly
available. Please, protect your access privilege.
Contact the W3C Webmaster Team at [235]member-access@w3.org with any
questions.
[235] mailto:member-access@w3.org
Member News Services, Press Release and Media Coverage Archives
W3C publishes its message in several ways. Archives of past
[236]Newsletters, [237]NewsWires and [238]press releases, are all
available online. We also track the W3C message as it appears in the
media; our [239]W3C Media Appearance archive lists over two thousand
items to date and is updated weekly.

[237] http://www.w3.org/Member/News/NewsWire
[238] http://www.w3.org/News/
[239] http://www.w3.org/Press/Articles.html
The Newsletter is a monthly supplement to the [240]W3C Member Web
site, distributed over the Web, by email, and even by fax upon
request. It is an especially critical channel for reaching [241]W3C
Advisory Committee Members with meeting announcements and official
business.

[241] http://www.w3.org/Member/ACList
The Newsletter should be distributed widely within Member
Organizations ONLY.

Policies
Using the "W3C Member" Logo
Members of the World Wide Web Consortium are authorized and encouraged
to display the "W3C Member" icon on their products, packaging and
literature, provided that no implication of endorsement of products by
W3C is made. Feel free to use it also on your Web pages, in which case
it must be linked to [242]http://www.w3.org/. This is further
described on the [243]W3C Logo and Icon Usage page.

[243] http://www.w3.org/Consortium/Legal/logo-usage-20000308.html
Preparing Press Releases With W3C
It is important that any public information relating to the Consortium
is accurate and consistent. We require that any press release by
Members mentioning the W3C (or the host sites MIT, INRIA and Keio) be
authorized by W3C's Communications Team. Press releases (in whole or
relevant part) should be addressed by email to [244]w3t-pr@w3.org . We
will endeavor to respond within two working days if not more rapidly.
[244] mailto:w3t-PR@w3.org
Submitting Proposals to W3C
W3C Member organizations have the opportunity to formally submit
technical proposals, action plans, etc. The required steps are
outlined in the [245]current W3C Process. Note that part of the
Process states:
[245] http://www.w3.org/Consortium/Process/
Prior to acknowledgment, the Submitter must not, under any
circumstances, refer to a document as "submitted to the World Wide
Web Consortium" or "under consideration by W3C" or any similar
phrase either in public or Member communication. The Submitter must
not imply in public or Member communication that W3C is working
(with the Submitter) on the material in the Submission request.
A current and complete list of all official Submissions to the W3C is
available online at http://www.w3.org/Submission/
