    PWG XHTML-print folks,

I wanted to make sure you guys were aware of this W3C activity on SVG for
Printers that now has a requirements document. The W3C is also asking for
comments on the SVG Requirements for use in Printers, so we should
definitely review and comment. Also they are asking for people to join a
    public-svg-print distribution list.

How does SVG for printers relate to the XHTML-Print document format that you
are doing a PWG Last Call on to become a Candidate IEEE-ISTO Standard and
has been registered with IANA as the:

    "application/vnd.pwg-xhtml-print+xml" MIME Type.

I've not been able to keep up with the email on XHTML-Print, but I do recall
that the PWG has been or would be working with W3C on XHTML-Print.

    Thanks,
    Tom

Subject: CIP4 Forum Members@cip4.org: SVG for print - posted for the W3C
    SVG Committee

    Dear CIP4 Member or Affiliate,

During the past few months, the World-Wide-Web Consortium (W3C)
Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) Working Group has been developing a document
relating to the use of the SVG language in print devices.

SVG is an XML-based imaging language primarily targeting web pages.
The SVG language has been published as a full specification and is
implemented by a number of vendors.

As part of the adaptation of SVG to hard-copy devices, the group has
developed a set of requirements which has been published as the 'SVG
Printing Requirements' document. This document may be viewed at
    <http://www.w3.org/TR/2003/WD-SVGPrintReqs-20030218/>.

The SVG Working Group would like to invite feedback from print
industry bodies and professionals regarding the content of the requirements
    document.

The SVG Working Group is also interested in potential collaboration
with other printing organizations in regard to the development of SVG for
    printing.

As part of the forum for printing related issues regarding
SVG, the group has set up a publicly available mailing list. This can be
joined by mailing 'subscribe' to the mailing list at:
<public-svg-print-request@w3.org>. The list itself is at the address:
<public-svg-print@w3.org>. Archives of mail to the list are available at:

Please feel free to submit comments and/or questions to us regarding
    any issues surrounding this development.

    Thank you,

    The W3C SVG Working Group
