Mark,
I'm guessing that Ledger is a landscape oriented medium, since a ledger is
typically viewed landscape, while a tabloid (newspaper) is viewed portrait.
I've also seen the conventions on boxes of paper in which the difference
between 11x17 and 17x11 is significant: when it has fanfold tear off tractor
feed holes. The 17x11 is landscape paper, with the fanfold separations
being along the long (17 inch side).
Note: in our PWG Media Size standard, we are NOT making a distinction
between portrait and landscape media sizes, but are depending on something
else to include the orientation when it is significant.

Subject: UPD> Ledger vs Tabloid
Hello,
The developer of apsfilter noticed a problem with Ledger and Tabloid forms.
The UPDF document says that Ledger is 11x17. I have searched the web and
noticed that there are three sets of beliefs.
- Ledger is 11x17
- Ledger is 17x11
- Ledger is the same as Tabloid.
and vice versa for Tabloid.
There seems to be a lot of confusion. Ghostscript defines Ledger as 17x11
while Omni defines it as 11x17.
Do any of you have any history on Ledger or Tabloid?
Please reply directly as I am not subscribed to the mailing list.
