I'm forwarding this constraints spec to the IPP FAX DL, so that they can
consider it at their Boston meeting, Thursday, 10/26 (the day before the
UPDF meeting in Boston).
The IPP FAX WG and the UPDF WG group should see if there is a way to
converge the constraints specification to a common one. The IPP FAX
primarily needs constraints for generating TIFF/FX and for interaction
between IPP Job Template attributes.
The UPDF group needs constraints for generating any PDL data.

Subject: UPD> constraints update
Please find attached the promised specification documentation.
In the meantime I am getting really picky about names of variables, as I've
learnt that it is very important to have clean and different names for every
element in XML.
I've added the previous files, too, as I have updated some variable names.
No other changes.

Here is the previous message with more about the constraints proposal from
the UPDF group.

Subject: IPP> new version of constraints spec
We have finished a new level of the constraints specification.
All comments from Chicago are implemented.
As paper handling is the area where constraints are mostly used, we are
partly working on paper handling as well. Therefore the attached samples are
taken from paper handling.
I am updating the constraints specification documentation right now and will
share it with you shortly.
Please take a few minutes to study it. It is small enough. The samples
hopefully fill it with life.
One open question is how can we provide hooks for proprietary constraints.
For now I leave that aside. I will watch how much this is a requirement.
Perhaps the concept is flexible enough for all necessary implementations.
I copy the IPP group, as constraints have been an issue there for quite a
while. Please check whether this proposal can solve your problems.
