Subject: Telecons: Wed & Thur - CIP4/PODi/FSG IPP/JDF Digital
Printing Color and Imaging Attributes
Last Friday, we had a good 4 hour telecon reviewing the IPP/JDF Color and
Imaging attributes.
At the end of the meeting, the group wanted to finish the review of the
IPPJDF mapping of color and imaging attributes finished this week, so we
agreed to two 5-hour telecons this week:
Wednesday, December 11, 2002, 7-noon PST (10-3 PM EST)
Thursday, December 12, 2002, 9-2 PST (noon-5 PM EST)
This message is being forwarded separately to the PODi web board, the CIP4
Color Workflow WG, and printing-jobticket@freestandards.org
(which can't take such a long cc list).
We will continue to have color scientists from EFI (Thor Olson), HP (Mary
Nielsen), and Xerox (Ann McCarthy) attending. Also these telecons continue
to be a joint CIP4 Digital Printing WG and Color Workflow WG call as well.
Here are the meeting details for both days this week (using the HP

We'll also use the same webex as last Friday:
http://cip4.webex.com/webex/
Meeting: Digital Printing - Color & Imaging Attrs, PSW: colors
If you are a new user, go there ahead of time an install the software needed
by your browser.
Agenda: continue the review of the IPP to JDF mapping table for the color
and imaging attributes. (Skip over non-color attributes).
The latest version (v0.971 07-Dec-2002) is available at:
ftp://ftp.pwg.org/pub/pwg/fsg/jobticket/IPP_Mapping/ippjdf-mapping-07-Dec-20
02.pdf
ftp://ftp.pwg.org/pub/pwg/fsg/jobticket/IPP_Mapping/ippjdf-mapping-07-Dec-20
02.doc
It has the agreements from Friday's meeting in them.
Review includes:
a. Is the Priority agreed (High, Medium, Low, Never)
b. Is the functionality understood and agreed.
c. Is the mapping to JDF/1.1 Product Intent correct or the proposed JDF
extension agreed?
d. Is the mapping to the JDF/1.1 Process Resources correct or the proposed
JDF extension agreed?
e. Should CIP4 Color Workflow WG meet face-to-face in Barcelona in Feb 3-5
(probably jointly with Digital Printing WG)?
f. If there is time, finish merging the EFI color attribute names at the end
of the table into the IPP attribute names and/or add additional attributes,
if the EFI names have different functionality.
The details of the semantics of the IPP attributes are contained in the IPP
Color and Imaging spec reviewed at Thursday's (12/5/02) PWG meeting
and is available at:
ftp://ftp.pwg.org/pub/pwg/ipp/new_COLOR/pwg5100.8-D01-021018.pdf
If you have comments on this IPP spec you want to send before or after the
meeting, lets use the digital_printing@cip4.org DL.
Thanks,
Tom Hastings
