    Using NROFF my have cut the time RFC editor's time but it would have such a
    crippled tool would have increased our development time tremendously.

    In response, I think you will find that our more recent documents have
    become shorter (but instead more of them).

    I think you failed to reveal to us that doing the drafts in NROFF could have
    cut the IESG/RFC Editor process with some 12 months or so...

    I've found that things move a lot quicker when (1) You provide NROFF source
    to
    the RFC editor and (2) The documents are relatively short and use relatively
    simple typographical conventions. I believe the BEEP documents met all of
    these criteria.

    I pointed this out to the IPP WG at one point but was told that this wasn't
    an
    option for IPP documents.
