Some time ago someone asked me to recommend a good book on PDF (other
than the reference)...

If you're interested in finding a good primer book on PDF and its use in
a print workflow, try the book "pdf+print 2.0" by Bernd Zipper. It's a
quick read but is good at covering the subject.
