Many thanks to Stan McConnell for uploading the new DPA documents
to the PWG ftp server.
Please NOTE however, that the server internet hostname mentioned in
Stan's message (below) is incorrect...and this may not have been
obvious to most folks.
The PWG ftp server name is: ftp.pwg.org (and NOT ftp.pwg.com)
It turns out that "ftp.pwg.com" actually exists(!), and as a result,
if you try to ftp to that address, you'll get some rather strange
error messages that don't really expose the fact that you're on
the wrong server.
Again, thanks to Stan.
...jay
PS: For the record, Stan McConnell is the original "author" of the
infamous PWG reference of "cerebrally moribund" (aka "brain dead").
Let credit go to where credit is due... ;-)

Subject: DPA (ISO/IEC 10175) To be published; updated version available
The ISO Central Secretariat requested additional editorial revisions to
the Final Text of ISO/IEC 10175, Document Printing Application (DPA),
parts 1 and 2. These revisions were incorporated last month, along with
several fixes to glitches that surfaced after the March '96 version was
completed.
As indicated below, this is primarily an editorial upgrade to the version
of March '96, and is reportedly now on its way to publication as an
International Standard.
This new version is may be obtained by anonymous ftp from the server used
by the IETF/DMTF Printer Working Group:
ftp.pwg.com
in sub-directory:
/pub/pwg/snmpmib/dpa/dpa-final/
I am now actively working on proposed addenda and corrigenda to contribute
to the ISO working group (SC18/WG4); Annex H indicates some of the things
under consideration. Suggested additions/corrections to DPA-1/2 will be
gratefully accepted. In addition, ballot comments on the DPA part 3
Committee Draft (CD) will be considered at the next SC18/WG4 meeting, and
revision to DPA-3 will begin at that time. The DPA-3 CD can be found in
subdirectory:
/pub/mib/dpa/dpa-prt3.cd
The readme for the new DPA version is included below. Additional readme
files are included in the subdirectories /dpa1-2.ps, /dpa1-asn, dpa-zip,
and non-rev. These contain more detailed information about the contents
of the subdirectories.
Any questions or comments should be forwarded to me or to the mail
distribution list:
dpa at woden.eng.sun.com
and members of the committee will respond.

READ ME.TXT -- ISO/IEC 10175 (DPA)
11 July 1996
The files in this directory represent the final state of
ISO/IEC 10175 (DPA) parts 1 and 2, as delivered to the
ISO Central Secretariat for publication as an International
Standard. This version incorporates editorial revisions
requested by the Central Secretariat, but also includes
line numbers which will not appear in the published ISO version.
This version of the Standard differs from the May 1995 and
March 1996 versions primarily in editorial details. A few substantive
changes are noted in the change histories at the beginning of Annexes A
and C; also, Figure 9-1 has been revised slightly. If anyone needs to see
the actual changes, please refer to the revision-marked version stored in
the Subdirectory REV-MARK.
The documents are available in four zip files that contain various
representations of the Final Text. The zip files are:
dpa-doc.zip - the MS-WORD sources for this version of the Final Text
dpa-docr.zip - the MS-WORD sources with revision marks showing the
changes made to the Final Text version of March 1996
dpa-ps.zip - the PostScript(tm) (with revision marks removed) in four
files for Part 1 and a second file for Part 2
dpa-asn.zip - the ASN.1 sources for the DPA protocol
Each zip file contains a more detailed readme file : read-doc.txt,
read-docr.txt, read-ps.txt, and read-asn.txt, respectively; these explain
the contents of the zip files in more detail.
Any questions or comments should be forwarded to the mail distribution list:

and members of the committee will respond.
