Hi folks,
WARNING - the following document from the IETF SNMPv3 WG changes
the syntax (type) of text objects in the System group of IETF MIB-II
(RFC 1213) from 'DisplayString' (ASCII) to 'SnmpAdminString' (UTF-8
Unicode). This change was made at the explicit direction of the
IESG, for conformance with 'IETF Policy on Character Sets and
Languages' (RFC 2277).
The IESG will no longer allow *any* MIB to be submitted for the
Internet 'standards track' (or remain there for existing MIBs)
unless all uses of 'DisplayString' (except language tag keywords from
RFC 1766, which are *not* text) are changed to 'SnmpAdminString'
(UTF-8 Unicode).
This will definitely impact the Printer MIB v2 and Host Resources
MIB v2 drafts when they are submitted to the IESG.
Cheers,

In the body type:
"FILE /internet-drafts/draft-ietf-snmpv3-update-mib-00.txt".
NOTE: The mail server at ietf.org can return the document in
MIME-encoded form by using the "mpack" utility. To use this
feature, insert the command "ENCODING mime" before the "FILE"
command. To decode the response(s), you will need "munpack" or
a MIME-compliant mail reader. Different MIME-compliant mail readers
exhibit different behavior, especially when dealing with
"multipart" MIME messages (i.e. documents which have been split
up into multiple messages), so check your local documentation on
how to manipulate these messages.
Below is the data which will enable a MIME compliant mail reader
implementation to automatically retrieve the ASCII version of the
Internet-Draft.
