I agree that we should disambiguate edge conditions (like 
overlength lines) in the Console Buffer table if it is added
to IPP (or even just in the Printer MIB v2 draft itself).
And I think some guidance to implementors on export of 
device local GUIs through the table and on representation
of the table on remote GUIs would be a good idea.

A recurring question among Xerox printer folks is *which*
line of Console Buffer table contains the one line 'status'
of the printer if the printer only has a local GUI (no
text mode interface), because it's generally that line
that a remote GUI (or CLI) might want to show to an
end user or operator.  Obviously other IPP and Printer
MIB objects for a 'status message' exist, but the one in
the Console Buffer table contains (presumably) what is
currently being displayed local to the device.
