Don,
Could we process this registration proposal as part of the PWG agenda when
the
Printer MIB status is discussed next Wednesday, May 26?
All,
Please send any comments on this text on the mailing list before the meeting
next week. It is written so that it can be cut and pasted into the draft
Printer MIB.
Lloyd and Chris,
Do you have any specific comments with this proposal?
Thanks,
Tom Hastings
Mail note from Ira McDonald:
Per my action item from Wednesday's, 5/12, IPP WG Telecon, below is an IPP
job submission channel type registration for addition to the Printer MIB v2.
Only the 'URI' attribute is Mandatory. The 'Auth', 'Security', and
'Version' attributes are Optional. All attributes are single-valued,
except for 'Version', which is multi-valued (an unordered set of
all supported IPP versions for each IPP Printer URI).
Per our IPP telecon, 'Auth' and 'Security' attributes default to 'none'.
ISSUE: Ok if 'Version' attribute defaults to '1.0'?
Remember we're trying to foster interoperability here, so the absence of
the 'Version' attribute meaning 'unknown' isn't user friendly (requires
the presence of LDAP/SLP or 'trial-and-error' by the requesting client).
Cheers,
- Ira McDonald
