I have posted an interim update of the MFD Overall document at:
ftp://ftp.pwg.org/pub/pwg/mfd/wd/wd-mfdoverallmod10-20090813.pdf
(There is also a *.doc version at
ftp://ftp.pwg.org/pub/pwg/mfd/wd/wd-mfdoverallmod10-20090813-97.pdf...
<ftp://ftp.pwg.org/pub/pwg/mfd/wd/wd-mfdoverallmod10-20090813-97.pdf... the
-97> the -97 distinguishing it from the docx version that I am working
with.)
The draft has been massively restructured and an initial cut made to reflect
the modified Schema. Despite attempts to encourage MS Word to follow the
shuffle/addition/deletions, I did completely confuse it and Table and Figure
references are typically wrong. I also appear the be missing elements in the
current schema that I thought I saw in previous ones ( yellow highlights)
But the main purpose of this cut is to see if this represents the structure
and content desired. Please note Pete's agenda for the face to face
(ftp://ftp.pwg.org/pub/pwg/mfd/minutes/MFD-Agenda-Aug-09.pdf), which
includes a discussion of the scope and purpose of the Overall specification.
At least from my viewpoint, the schema update represents the MFD model with
the System as a strong central core rather than the previous approach which
modeled the MFD as a rather loose collection of Services. The scope and
purpose of the Overall specification should change from providing background
and information common to the different services to defining a hierarchical
structure. I suggest that the schema updates should be understood and agreed
to before considering the scope and purpose of the Overall specification.
Thanks,
Bill Wagner
