Given the number of printers, I'm not sure that would help if the lists were expanded by default. Maybe we could start with "Vendor (NNN printers)" and then expand once you click on one or enter some search text... Our options are somewhat limited given the source data and our reliance on Javascript for the presentation, but I can certainly try some things.

That's a much trickier solution - how to choose the colors, how those might be perceived, issues for color blind individuals, etc.
