Hi Jim,

Sorry - when I log into the PWG server as 'staff' (to store a file),
I get a different directory tree view. The correct URL is:

ftp://ftp.pwg.org/pub/pwg/ipp/new_SLP/slp-mib-uml-model-00.pdf

(I just tested the above by left-clicking and letting IE browser
bring it up, successfully).

Cheers,
- Ira

Ira,

I couldn't fetch the link below.

Hi folks,

My co-editor, Mark Bakke, has just succeeded in readably diagramming
the relationships between all of the object groups in the SLP MIB
(which can be complex).

I stored a copy in PDF on the PWG Anonymous FTP server at:

ftp://ftp.pwg.org/ipp/new_SLP/slp-mib-uml-model-00.pdf

Mark Bakke gave me all the hard problems of structure already solved in
his original sketch in UML. And the optimizations to allow simpler
implementations for most systems in his subsequent feedback.

Jim Muchow - you were right about those SEQUENCE clauses. I've got
a zillion 'smilint' errors to correct - all the refined types in the
SEQUENCE clauses. New version pretty soon, but not before the IETF
cutoff in mid-November, I don't think.

Cheers,

Hi,

Oops - I reversed the order of the 'srvloc' to 'svrloc' first try for
the mailing list. My apolgies for the repeat posting to the IPP list,
but I wanted you people to see the correct address for the SLP Project
(corrected in the note below).

Hi folks, Thursday (1 November 2001)

I've just sent a first draft of 'Definitions of Managed Objects for
Service Location Protocol (SLP MIB)' to the Internet-Drafts editor and
posted a copy on the Printer Working Group (PWG) Anonymous FTP server in
the directory 'ftp://ftp.pwg.org/pub/pwg/ipp/new_SLP/' in the file:

    <draft-mcdonald-svrloc-mib-00.txt> (November 2001) - full I-D
    <draft-mcdonald-svrloc-mib-00.mib> (November 2001) - SMIv2 MIB

This draft SLP MIB compiles cleanly with Epilogue Emissary and SMICng.
This draft SLP MIB was developed as part of the SLP Project's efforts to
advance SLPv2 (RFC 2608) from Proposed Standard to Draft Standard on the
Internet 'standards track'.

The editors would like to thank: Pete St. Pierre (Sun) for his original
work on an SLP MIB in 1997; Erik Guttman (Sun) for compiling the
requirements for this SLP MIB for SLPv2; and Jim Muchow (Cisco) for
his helpful comments on the ASN.1 structure and compliance macros
in this SLP MIB.

Thanks to my co-editor Mark Bakke (Cisco) for first doing all the "heavy
lifting" by laying out his excellent UML model for the SLP MIB.

PS - Please note that both the IETF IPP WG and SLP Project mailing lists
are subscribers-only. Please send comments directly to the editors
(Mark and me) and we'll cross post as required. Thanks.

I-D Editor, Thursday (1 November 2001)

Please place this independent submission in the Internet-Drafts
repository named:

    <draft-mcdonald-svrloc-mib-00.txt> (November 2001)

Abstract

This memo defines a portion of the Management Information Base (MIB)
for use with network management protocols in the Internet community.
In particular, it defines as set of managed objects that support
monitoring and configuration of Service Location Protocol Version 2
(SLPv2) [RFC2608] directory agents (DAs), service agents (SAs), and
   user agents (UAs).

Please send the I-D announcement to the editors (above), because the
SLP Project at Source Forge <srvloc-discuss at lists.sourceforge.net> is a
subscribers-only mailing list.

Thanks very much,
- Ira McDonald (co-editor of SLP MIB)
