IEEE’s process requires every standard to be “revised” every ten years. A “revision” may be nothing more than changing the date on the standard to the current year but action must be taken. As far as I know, there are no technical revisions needed for either of these standards. Since my days at Lexmark, I have served as the working group chair.

<span style="font-family:"Georgia","serif"">

<span style="font-family:"Georgia","serif"">As you may be aware, I will be the IEEE Standards Association President in 2017 and 2018 and I don’t believe I will be able to effectively serve as the chair for these “revision” projects.

<span style="font-family:"Georgia","serif"">

<span style="font-family:"Georgia","serif"">I have been asked by the leadership of the Microprocessor Standards Committee (MSC) leadership if there is someone who could lead this effort. In addition, I would not expect the need for any face-to-face meetings to complete these ballots. IEEE staff, MSC leadership, and I will be available to help a new working group chair complete these efforts.

<span style="font-family:"Georgia","serif"">

<span style="font-family:"Georgia","serif"">If you are, or are willing to become, an IEEE member and would like the opportunity to lead these efforts, please let me know.

<span style="font-family:"Georgia","serif"">

<span style="font-family:"Georgia","serif"">Please feel free to forward this to anyone else you think may be interested.

<span style="font-family:"Georgia","serif"">

<span style="font-family:"Georgia","serif"">Thanks!

<span style="font-family:"Georgia","serif"">

________________________________________________________

Don Wright, President
Standards Strategies, LLC
P.O.
