<div>Most printer vendors have "process" settings similar to those you describe. Generally the core philosophy of standard IPP is to convey "intent" (what is the desired outcome) rather than "process" (how it should be done). Many times the process settings
are tightly coupled to the underlying engine technology (inkjet, laser, dye sublimation, etc.) and can also be dependent on printer vendor technology.</div>

<div>Recognizing that, we added in IPP Driver Replacement Extensions v2.0 (PWG 5100.13-2023) a new "print-processing-attributes-supported" attribute, which provides a list of other attributes (standard and non-standard) that relate to "processing". This provides
universal Clients (AirPrint, Mopria, IPP Everywhere) with a way to discover "process-related" attributes that can be presented in an "Advanced Settings" UI without having to know anything about the settings themselves (these almost always relate to actions
taken by the Printer, not client-side). And it allow a Printer to list its process attributes (standard and vendor-unique). It basically provides a limited method of classification.</div>

Thanks for the follow up. We are looking for a way for a client to request adjustments to printed output image qualities (like lightness, contrast, saturation and color cast) with some granularity that could parallel a user interface offering a slider to select
'more' or 'less' of any of the image adjustment qualities. We are considering something vendor specific for print, modeled after the input-attributes collection attribute. However, leveraging standard attributes is preferred so I wanted to see if I was perhaps
missing something.<br>

As you correctly surmised, that is an old (February 12, 2005) working draft that was never advanced. IIRC, there wasn't enough support within the PWG to develop this as ICC profiles and standard color spaces were becoming more commonplace and we didn't want
to "hardcode" color controls...<br>

I know we *did* include some of these controls in the FaxOut and Scan specs to control brightness and contrast for the scanner portion of the service. See section 7.1.1 in the FaxOut specification for the definition of the "input-attributes" collection attribute:<br>
