CLI access to CIM data using WS-Management. I will probably use some WinRM
or PowerShell scripts to debug the prototype. However, I am sorry to
report that this is not a reasonable management interface for system
managers. It is a very general facility, and very low level, at the level
of Get and Set but using WS-Man instead of SNMP. For programmers, for
debugging use, yes. For day-to-day management by IT personnel, no.

color=#0000ff>A provider will do only that: provide data to the CIM Object
Manager (CIMOM), which on Windows is WMI. A user needs a management
application that is tuned to the problem at hand. To my knowledge, there
is currently no application to manage printers using the new CIM classes, which
are brand new. I do not think the proposed project includes a management
application with a user interface suitable for IT use. That is another
job. </FONT></SPAN></DIV>
